Sonya Dyer discusses the role of science fiction and speculative worlds in her practice.
The Somerset House Studios resident unpacks her interweaving influences from Star Trek, Greek mythology and the legacy of HeLa cells in her latest exhibition, Three Parent Child. The installation, film and sculpture engage with ongoing conversations around monumentalism, memory and the role of speculation. Here, Dyer shares how her work reimagines the history and radical potential of human space travel, as she explores the intersections between scientific enquiry and science fiction.
