Chris Zhongtian Yuan engages with the medium of film through a musical and architectural language.

Working across both digital and analogue mediums, Yuan draws from a wide range of music genres in order to re-imagine and improvise memory and resistance. Their work aims to form a new “Punk” moving image practice which draws from DIY music, vernacular architecture and personal encounters. Yuan is a graduate of the Architectural Association. 

A graduate of the Architectural Association in London and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Chris Zhongtian Yuan was awarded the K11 Art 11 Prize for Wuhan Punk in 2020, and the Aesthetica Art Prize for Counterfictions (2018-19). recent exhibitions include:Today Art Museum, Beijing; IFFR, Rotterdam; Whitechapel Gallery, London; Guangdong Times Museum, Guangzhou; V.O Curations, London; Videoex, Zurich; The Courtauld Institute of Art, London; Power Station of Art, Shanghai; Hubei Museum of Art, Wuhan; K11, Wuhan; OCAT Institute, Beijing; Venice Architecture Biennale Greek Pavilion, Venice, among others.They recently created a film for Channel called Cloudy Song, which you can watch from the link below.
