London-based multidisciplinary artist Sam Williams incorporates collage, text, moving image, and live performance into his earthy reflections on our increasingly damaged world.
His ecologically minded practice digs deep into folk mythologies, archaeology and mycelial networks to draw inspiration from interstitial spaces and foster an underlying sense of interconnectedness between the species. Williams has worked with an array of collaborators, from academics to musicians like experimental electronic producer Roly Porter, and has performed worldwide as part of the audio-visual group Emptyset. He has exhibited at institutions including Newcastle’s Baltic39, London’s Tate Britain, Sadler’s Wells, and many more.
Sam Williams is currently a resident at Somerset House Studios.
