Celebrated Mumbai-based painter, sculptor, photographer, and installation artist Jitish Kallat immortalises his bustling birthplace through large-scale sculptures, detailed paintings and other media to document a changing India.
Kallat's work often contemplates the concepts of time and the cosmos, as well urban planning, history and trauma. Kallat has exhibited all over the world, from London’s Tate Modern and the Serpentine Galleries to Berlin’s Martin-Gropius-Bau, Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art and Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum. Whorled (Here After Here After Here) marks his first major commissioned piece in the UK.
